How they work
Sortio indexes a folder, can read each file’s contents, gives files descriptive names, and moves them into folders, creating new ones as needed. Its AI sorting uses its own cloud by default, or a key or local model you provide.
Lisorto proposes a Space and a clear name for each file and waits for your OK. Documents, scans, screenshots, and photos are read on your Mac, so most people never send anything anywhere, and everything becomes searchable by its words.
Pick Sortio if…
- you also work on Windows or Linux;
- you organize files as a team, with shared workspaces;
- you need its Clio integration.
Pick Lisorto if…
- you only use a Mac and want a native Mac app;
- you want AI on your Mac by default, without an account;
- you want to search inside scans and screenshots from the menu bar;
- you prefer a one-time purchase to a yearly subscription.
Switching from Sortio, or using both
- Let each app work on its own folders so they don’t move the same files.
- Lisorto’s Spaces are plain folders, so anything you sorted with Sortio stays where it is.
What Lisorto never does
- It never deletes a file. Duplicates are set aside, not removed; Free up space moves things to the Trash only when you pick them.
- It never overwrites a file. If a name is taken, that file stays where it is.
- It doesn’t upload your files. Cloud AI is optional, off by default, and sends only a short excerpt of an unclear document.
