Two ways to automate a folder
Hazel is a rules engine. You tell it: when a file in this folder matches these conditions (name, kind, date, and so on), do this (move it, rename it, tag it). It’s flexible and precise, and you are the one who designs every rule.
Lisorto starts from the other end. It reads each file on your Mac, including the text inside documents and scans, and proposes a Space for it: Bills and receipts, Travel, Contracts and forms, Screenshots, Installers, and more. You see the whole plan before anything moves, then approve it with one click.
Pick Hazel if…
- you enjoy building precise rules and want full control over every condition and action;
- your files follow patterns you can describe, like names from a scanner or a bank;
- you need actions beyond filing, built from your own rules.
Pick Lisorto if…
- you want Downloads tidy without writing rules first;
- your files are named things like
document(5).pdfandscan0001.pdf, so only their contents say what they are; - you want to see every move before it happens, and to undo all of it in one click;
- you also want to find files later by any word inside them, scans and screenshots included.
What Lisorto never does
- It never deletes a file. Duplicates are set aside, not removed.
- It never overwrites a file. If a name is taken, that file stays where it is.
- It doesn’t upload your files. Text is read on your Mac. Cloud AI is optional, off by default, and shows what would be sent first.
