GUIDE · UNINSTALL

How to uninstall Lisorto from your Mac

Lisorto is an ordinary Mac app, so there’s no uninstaller to run, and removing it never touches the files it sorted. Here’s how to remove the app, its settings and search index, and your account if you made one.

Before you start: anything you want back where it was?

When you remove Lisorto, the files it moved stay where they are now: in the Space folders it made inside the folder you tidied, under their current names. They’re ordinary Finder folders. If you’d rather have some files back where they were, open History in Lisorto and click Undo on that batch or file first. Undo needs Lisorto, so do it before you remove the app and its data.

1. Quit Lisorto

  • Turn off Launch at login: in Lisorto, open Settings › Background behavior and turn off Launch at login.
  • AutoPilot only runs while Lisorto is open, so quitting stops it. There’s nothing to turn off folder by folder.
  • Click the Lisorto icon in the menu bar and choose Quit.

2. Move Lisorto to the Trash

In Finder, open Applications and drag Lisorto to the Trash, or select it and press Command-Delete. The helper that reads PDFs and the updater live inside the app, so they go with it. If Lisorto is still listed in System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions, select it there and remove it.

3. Remove its settings, search index, and caches

macOS runs Lisorto in a sandbox, so everything it keeps on your Mac is in one folder:

~/Library/Containers/app.lisorto.mac

It holds the folders you added, your Spaces and rules, History, the search index, settings, and caches. To remove it, choose Go › Go to Folder in Finder (Shift-Command-G), enter ~/Library/Containers/, and move the app.lisorto.mac folder to the Trash. Finder may show it with the name Lisorto. You can also remove the empty folder macOS makes for every sandboxed app, ~/Library/Application Scripts/app.lisorto.mac.

4. Remove the Pro license from the keychain (optional)

Your Pro license, trial dates, and sign-in are kept in your login keychain, so reinstalling Lisorto picks them up. To remove them, open Keychain Access (search for it with Spotlight), search for app.lisorto.mac, and delete the items it finds.

5. Delete your Lisorto account, if you have one

Removing the app doesn’t delete your account or cancel a subscription. You have an account only if you bought Pro on the website, signed in, or turned on Cloud AI. To delete it, sign in, open your account page, and choose Delete account. That cancels any active subscription and removes your account and its data from Lisorto’s database; older backup copies are removed as they expire. To keep the account and only stop paying, choose Manage billing there instead. More in the privacy policy.

What stays on your Mac

  • Your files, in the Spaces Lisorto made, with the names they have now. Nothing is deleted.
  • The Duplicates folder, if Lisorto set copies aside. Look through it and delete the copies you don’t need.
  • Files you chose in Free up space stay in the Trash until you empty it.

FAQ

Questions

Does uninstalling Lisorto delete my files?

No. Lisorto never deletes files, and removing it leaves every file where it is now: in the Spaces it made, under the name it has now.

Can I put files back where they were after uninstalling?

Not with Undo, because History and Undo need Lisorto. Undo what you want back before you remove it, or move the files yourself in Finder.

Do I need an uninstaller app?

No. Moving the app to the Trash and removing its folder in ~/Library/Containers is all it takes. Lisorto installs no background services or system extensions.

Does removing the app cancel my subscription?

No. Cancel it from Manage billing in the app before you remove it, or on your account page at lisorto.app/account.
